Bairro alto  |  baixa  |  and beyond: departs year round at 9:30 am. These are primarily walking tours because vehicles are restricted from the narrow medieval streets of the historic center. We offer a 3 hour English speaking guide ,entry fees and historic trolley ride  or taxis when needed. The short ride on a historic trolley is to reach the hilltops, and our tours follow a leisurely downhill route with places along the way to stop for views, restroom, or beverage breaks if needed. Your guide will be waiting for you at your port of arrival, holding a sign with your name on it.

Join us for a lively walk around the city’s diverse bairros and monuments where the smells, sights and sounds of everyday life can only be experienced on foot. Quaint alley ways and stairs reveal the layers of history that have transformed Lisbon over the ages. Our morning departure time makes the most of quiet views from beautiful terraces known as Miradouros. View Gothic ruins, walk past towering Baroque churches, and local markets that give the city its unique character. With one of our personable guides you will discover the real Lisbon beyond the major tourist spots. Few visitors are aware that the Dona Maria II theatre rests on the site of the former Inquisition palace, where trials based on cruel acts of faith and public executions took place for nearly 250 years. Outside the ruins of the roof-bare Carmel Church are clues to Portugal’s “Carnation Revolution,” and the great earthquake of 1755. This is for those who want an insiders look at Lisbon, traversing the city like locals, aboard a historic elevador and walks through car free squares, breathtaking vistas, famous cafes and rich personalities that define the City of Explorers.
